I hear Laurel. What does that say about me? Am I young and pretty or old and wise?
My story is a bit unconventional. I finished school and went on a search to learn a bit more about myself and the world we live in. That search ended up taking me to over 30 countries, provided me very real experiences in working with people from different cultures, allowed me to delve into entirely new foods and adventures, taught me much more about our communities and the systems at play, and inspired me to work toward leaving the world a better place.
My intention is to gain a deeper understanding of the elements that affect the progression of communities, as well as develop a multidisciplinary approach to implementing sustainable solutions within those communities.
I am multi-faceted, having a formal education in Business Administration and Finance as well as a Masters degree in Sustainable Development and Corporate Social Responsibility. Additionally, I maintain a unique appreciation and understanding of creative processes which blend together well in being able to think creatively and often provide out-of-the-box solutions for real-world problems. I have spent the last few years in operational roles with heavy doses of strategy development, marketing and customer relationship management. I have put a strong emphasis on digital marketing as this pushes me to embrace both analytical and creative mindsets.
I thrive on new experiences. I embrace fear and uncertainty as a catalyst for excitement and adventure.
I can't seem to see enough of the world. Apart from gorgeous landscapes, captivating architecture, and rich history, this passion is fueled by interesting people and the varying lessons they have to offer. My love for adventure is deeply rooted in the connections one makes with others, as I'm humbled by the very human elements relationships are built upon which continue to help me challenge stereotypes and combat bigotry.
I am perpetually curious. I am forever a student. I am always asking "why" or how." I continuously seek new knowledge in order to maintain a grip on vital issues in an ever changing world. I am creative, and I enjoy employing that creativity in a menagerie of ways.
Welcome to my life.
Adventure is a path. Real adventure – self-determined, self-motivated, often risky – forces you to have firsthand encounters with the world. The world the way it is, not the way you imagine it. Your body will collide with the earth and you will bear witness. In this way you will be compelled to grapple with the limitless kindness and bottomless cruelty of humankind – and perhaps realize that you yourself are capable of both. This will change you. Nothing will ever again be black-and-white.
